Basil & Avocado Pesto

Pesto is a crowd pleaser. It’s truly greater than the sum of it’s parts. The combination of flavors and its divine texture make it one of my favorite sauces. It’s commonly available in the refrigerator section of grocery store, but those pestos are never very good. It’s a very rewarding experience to make it yourself.

Tough it appears to be a healthy addition to ones diet, it’s generally loaded with various fatty ingredients to give it a creamy texture. My avocado pesto is a whole foods plant-based answer to the classic recipe.

Personal Update #1: SF Farmer’s Market, Library, & Kitchen Adventures

I thought it was time to post my first personal update. These posts will give everyone an idea of what projects I’m working on, my many adventures in cooking, and Santa Fe happenings. In general, I plan on keeping the recipes and seasonal ingredient highlights to the point, but I realize that one of the nice features to a blog is a real person stands behind the content. So, my personal update posts will be the place for readers to learn a little about me.

On Saturday, Zach and I went to the Farmer’s Market to shop for a private dining event I have later this week.

My goal in writing this blog is to provide information about seasonal, whole food, plant based cuisine on the Internet. I feel there is a need for a site that’s dedicated to these topics. I have looked through hundreds of food blogs over the past few years, however, not one of them quite fills this niche.
